Rules and regulations of the library

The following rules and regulations were designed to ensure that the library is a quiet and pleasant place to study and that its facilities are made available to all users as fully as possible.

  1. Every user is responsible for all books issued under his/her name
  2. A user must make sure that the books borrowed are in good condition before they are issued to him/her
  3. Silence shall be observed in all parts of the Library at all times.
  4. Smoking, consumption of foodstuffs and use of mobile telephones in any part of the Library is prohibited.
  5. No bag, case or parcel shall be brought into the Library. Patrons shall utilise the baggage storage facility at the entrance to the Library. (The library will not accept responsibility for damage to and /or theft of library property.)
  6. Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited in the library.
  7. Overdue library books will be confiscated from within the library and the college gates
  8. All items are subject to recall if in demand
  9. Readers shall be held responsible for any loss or damage occurring to books while in their charge and shall be required to pay the full replacement value of damaged or lost books.
  10. Library material shall NOT be issued to persons who have not paid fines as required, or to persons who hold overdue books.
  11. Stealing, marking and mutilation of library materials will not be tolerated and may result in the reader being suspended from using the library.
  12. The reader must ensure that all books returned to the library must be delivered to a staff member and the loan is cancelled in his/her presence.
  13. Fines. All Library material not returned by due date or time in terms of the specific loan period shall be subject to payment of a fine.
  14. Fines will accrue on all overdue materials.
  15. Any borrower relinquishing use of the Library must return all outstanding materials and obtain Library Clearance.
  16. A valid Student Identity Card must be presented to the Security Officer at the Entrance and to Library staff at the Circulation Counter when borrowing or returning items.

Borrowing Books

All students, academic staff and all supporting staff who are registered with the library are legible for library membership. All members are issued with 3 pockets
Loan Period Short loan textbooks are issued for seven (7) days and long term books are issued for two weeks (14days)
