Mission Statement
The Civil and Construction Engineering division is committed to
providing excellent technical, educational and training services
that will prepare students to face the challenges of employment,
entrepreneurship and technical advancement by enhancing individuasl
with practical skills and growth potential in the civil and construction
engineering disciplines.
Our Values
As a division, we are a highly motivated team which is committed
to raising the quality of service we provide toindustry and the
public by making our programmes customer oriented and accessible
to maximize the potential of our valued clients, the students.

through our civil and construction sub-advisory committee which
is made up of representative of our stakeholders.

the requirements in the fields of employment.
" We believe in continuous staff development and the provision
of the latest technological expertise to meet the individual and
civil & construction industry skills requirements and national
needs for manpower expertise.

Entry Requirements
Application must have 5 "O" level passes including English
Language, Mathematics and a Science subject for all the courses
except the last five where Mathematics is not required at national
certificate level.
Duration of National Certificate courses
The duration of full time courses 'a' to' f' is one year.
The duration of all part-time courses is two(2) years.
The duration of full-time courses 'h' to 'l' is three years.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a national certificate in the relevant disciplines.
Duration of National Diploma courses
Students attend two years on full time basis at Bulawayo Polytechnic
and go for industrial attachment for one year (Total duration =
3 years)
Higher National Diploma (HEXCO)
a. Civil Engineering
b. Water Resources Engineering
c. Surveying & Geometrics.
d. Architectural Technology.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a National Diploma in the relevant discipline.
Duration of Higher National Diploma courses
The duration of full time courses is one year.
General Requirements for all Conventional Courses
To be awarded a certificate at all levels given above (except for
Adult Skills courses), a candidate must achieve a
minimum of 85% class attendance and pass both coursework and final
examination on the relevant subjects as per the course regulation.
Adult Skills (Empowerment) Courses
a. Site surveying (stages 1&2)
b. Building plan drawing (stages 1&2)
c. Construction supervision
d. AutoCAD ( stages 1 & 2)
e. Basic Estimation of Quantities
f. Basic Brick laying Skills (stages 1&2)
g. Basic Plumbing (stage 1 & 2)
h. Basic Carpentry and Joinery (stage 1&2)
Award for Adult Skills Courses
A certificate of attendance or certificate of competency is awarded
to successful candidates by Bulawayo Polytechnic.
